Broadgreen Primary is a happy, thriving, and inclusive community where children feel safe, nurtured, and valued. Together, we excel. British Values at Broadgreen Primary

Democracy

Democracy is a foundational pillar of our school community. Our Student Council meets regularly to debate and address school-wide issues. Every council representative is democratically elected by their peers. We actively encourage our pupils to participate in decision-making processes, ensuring that every child’s voice is heard and valued.

The Rule of Law

We consistently reinforce the importance of laws, whether they are classroom agreements, school-wide code of conmduct, or the laws of the country. Pupils are taught the reasons behind rules—how they govern, protect, and look after us—as well as the responsibilities they entail and the consequences of breaking them. Regular visits from community partners, such as the police, help reinforce these vital lessons.

 Individual Liberty

Within our safe, supportive, and empowering environment, pupils are actively encouraged to make independent choices. We provide the boundaries and education necessary for young people to make informed decisions. Through eSafety and PSHE lessons, pupils learn to understand, exercise, and value their rights and personal freedoms safely.

Mutual Respect

Mutual respect sits at the heart of everything we do. Our children learn that their behaviours directly impact their own rights and the rights of others. Every member of our school community is expected to treat others with dignity. Any lapses in respect are addressed constructively, in line with our Relationships and Behaviour Policy. Furthermore, our P4C curriculum teaches children to respectfully engage with and value opinions that differ from their own.

Tolerance of Different Faiths & Beliefs

We proudly celebrate diversity by exploring and honoring different faiths, cultures, and traditions. Our Religious Education (RE) and PSHE curricula consistently reinforce messages of tolerance, empathy, and mutual respect. We are deeply committed to supporting our diverse school community—providing tailored language and learning support, and actively celebrating cultural festivals throughout the academic year.
