Welcome to Year 5
The Year 5 team this year is Miss Somerville, Mrs Bold and Miss Lee. In Year 5, we have an exciting curriculum planned to challenge and inspire the children. This year is a time for the children to deepen their learning and continue developing their confidence, independence and resilience.
Throughout the year, the children will be developing their skills in English, Maths and Science, while also exploring a range of engaging topics through our Opening Worlds curriculum. There will be plenty of opportunities for the children to discover and achieve.
Each morning begins with a handwriting or basic skills activity, followed by Maths, English and Reading Mastery lessons. The foundation subjects such as History, Geography, PSHE, DT and others will be taught in the afternoons.
PE
PE will take place every Tuesday with LFC. Pupils should come to school dressed in their PE kits on this day, ready for their session. Swimming will be every Monday at Wavertree Aquatic Centre.
Reading Books
We will be sending reading books home once a week on a Friday. The books need to be back by Wednesday, even if books have not been finished. This allows us to change the books and read any comments from the Home Reading Journals. Once your child has read their book please sign in their home reading record, as this helps us track their progress.
Homework
A Maths, English and Spelling task will be given in a folder on a Friday to be returned by Wednesday. This will be collected in and new activities will be placed in your child's folder, ready to take home on the upcoming Friday.
